FlyLady Zone 3 Guide: Bathroom and Extra Rooms

Zone 3 focuses on the bathroom and one additional room, such as a guest room, laundry room, office, or hobby space. This week is an opportunity to deep clean and declutter these areas to keep your home feeling fresh and inviting.

Daily Cleaning in Zone 3

Continue your daily routines, such as shining your sink and swishing and swiping the bathroom, as part of your FlyLady foundation. These habits make deep cleaning more manageable.

Decluttering Zone 3

Before you start cleaning, take 15 minutes each day to declutter. Here’s how:

  • Bathroom: Toss expired products, organise cabinets, and clear surfaces.
  • Extra Room: Focus on one corner or area, like a wardrobe, desk, or shelves.

My Detailed Cleaning List Zone 3 Flylady

Below are my deep cleaning tasks for Flylady Zone 3. Spend 5–15 minutes daily on the following detailed cleaning tasks. Below are some examples of what I do during my zone 3 cleaning. You don't have to do everything on this list. Choose what applies to your home and just do what you can:

Bathroom

  • Clean mirrors and windows.
  • Wash the shower curtain or clean the shower doors.
  • Clean the base of the shower cubicle
  • Clean shower screen
  • Scrub grout and tiles with a mild cleaner.
  • Wipe down cabinets and sink area.
  • Wash bath mats and replenish toiletries.
  • Restock toilet rolls
  • Wash bath mat
  • Wash towels (if you are not already doing this as part of your weekly cleaning routine)
  • Vacuum  or mop the floor or both
  • Dust all the flat surfaces
  • Clean glass: clean mirrors, windows, pictures, and any other reflective surfaces
  • Declutter rubbish and any empty bottles or old toiletries you don't use.

Extra Room

  • Dust and wipe down surfaces, including skirting boards.
  • Detailed vacuum or mop the floor.
  • Declutter drawers or shelves.
  • Freshen soft furnishings like cushions or bedding.
  • Tidy any hobby supplies or paperwork.
  • Clean glass: mirrors, windows, pictures, and any other reflective surfaces

Tips for Success

  • Use a timer to stay focused and avoid burnout.
  • Delegate tasks to family members, if possible.
  • Reward yourself with a cup of tea or coffee and sit down for 15 minutes after finishing!

By the end of Zone 3 week, your bathroom and extra spaces will feel renewed. Remember, progress, not perfection! Keep shining, and see you in Zone 4.
